The English Writing Support Center: Univ-Tlemcen (EWSC) is a pioneer initiative at the University of Tlemcen. The idea of its establishment stems from an idea that got developed in a PRFU research Project, named "Boosting EFL Students' Academic Writing through Writing Center Pedagogy: A Move towards the Target”, which is headed by Dr. Fatima Zahra Belkhir since January 2023.

Teamed with the PRFU research team and some volunteered teachers and doctoral students from the Department of English, EWSC initiative got piloted in the FLPATP research laboratory from 26th November, 2024 to 08th April 2025, after being hosted by the lab’s Director Dr. Fatima Zohra ADDER.

 On 15th April 2025, on the occasion of Science Day يوم'  العلم ', EWSC got officially launched in the FLPATP lab. with the presence of the ex-dean of the Faculty of letters and Languages, Prof. Ghouti Hajoui, and a number of teachers and students interested in developing academic writing skills.

It is by the end of the academic year 2024-2025 that EWSC official establishment in the University of Tlemcen, started its journey. This was thanks to an active collaboration from the Vice-Rector Prof. Ali Hamza Cherif and the Dean of Faculty of Letters and Languages Prof. Abderrahim Kherbouche.
